When the Farlan Club opened in 1957 on Mansfield Street in Thornbury, Melbourne, it wasn’t just a building – In 1985 the Farlan Club moved to a new location on Matisi Street in Thornbury. From then to now, the club’s purpose has remained the same – to provide a homely atmosphere for all members of the community, families and friends.
It was an emotion. This was an outlet formed by individuals that had an urge in having their fellow countrymen feel at home as they travel. This club belonged to every Italian immigrant existing in Australia and was not ready to lose his/her culture, traditions and identity.
It was not only a social center but also a place where members related, ended up celebrating festivals together, together they took meals and they together instilled their ideals to their kids.
Relocating to another place in 1985
